Costruita nel 1230 durante l’incastellamento  del Monte Argoneta dove sorge Villalago viene inizialmente chiamata “Torre dell’Unità”. Nel 1568 viene ristrutturata e chiamata “Torre della Libertà” dopo aver conquistato l’indipendenza di Villalago dalla casata Belprato.
